Sapper Luke Allsopp, who died on 23 March, 2003, aged 24, was a larger than life character and a popular member of his Regiment.
Sapper Allsopp of 33 Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) was killed in an ambush by Iraqi forces in the southern Iraqi town of Al Zubayr. Staff Sergeant Simon Cullingworth was killed in the same incident.
Sapper Allsopp, who was affectionately known as "Muscles", had served in bomb disposal units in Kenya and Cyprus before his posting to Iraq.
A subsequent inquest found that Sapper Allsopp and Staff Sergeant Cullingworth had been "unlawfully killed" by Iraqi military intelligence.

Luke -My First True Love
Luke was my first true love, we met at one of the Sydney Russell school disco's and dated for about three years from the age of 14 to 17...i never knew then that even though we parted as a part of growing up how much of an effect Luke's death would have had on my life. He was fun,cute and the nickname he earned as'Muscles' suited him down to the ground. However long i hadnt seen him for i loved that boy!! I still think of him now and have had recurrent dreams that it has all been a terrible mistake and that he is still alive...strange after all these years but true!

FALLEN SOLDIER
Fallen HeroI stare at the coffin;
